Here’s a brief update on the latest component in Christy Webber’s Greenworks project. A 67′ tower is being constructed within the on-site detention pond to house two Aerotecture wind turbines with a total electrical output of 2 kW. The simple but interesting structure is constructed entirely from steel tubes and will be a nice landmark for the ‘eco-industrial park’. The Aerotecture product has now been installed on the Near North SRO and won one of Mayor Daley’s Greenworks Awards last night, so they’re receiving more and more attention. The tower structural design is by Drucker Zajdel Structural Engineers.
